Rolling Stills Stories
As Western Australia’s bicentenary approaches, we thought it would be ideal to reach out to outback communities and offer to explore, document and enshrine the grassroots cultural events that have played such an important role in establishing a sense of identity over the past 200 years. .
We seek to explore themes of resilience, collaboration, inclusion and reconciliation within the community with the aim of bringing everyone together on their journey towards the bicentenary.
With that in mind, our goal is to document these events and paint a public mural that will be designed in consultation with local historians, community members and stakeholders to create a snapshot in time of these special events and what they mean to the community.
Each mural & event photography gallery will be posted to social media to allow the public to both follow and retrace the journey with the murals serving as tourism landmarks. In doing so, we hope to raise awareness of the events and to provide context to help tourists understand the cultural and historical significance of the events.
